Moving To Nicaragua

Moving to Nicaragua

If you’re wondering if you read the title of this post right I can assure you that your eyes haven’t gone bad. It’s true. Ya girl is moving to Nicaragua. It’s not a permanent move though. I’ll be gone for 3 months. I mentioned that I have travel plans in THIS post but I didn’t want to announce it until it was official. Well…’s officially official lol. I bought my plane ticket about 2 weeks ago. Cried like a baby while doing so. Reality set in. I’m actually doing this. But before I go into all of that let me explain why I’m moving to Nicaragua.

Outside of blogging I’m involved in a volunteer teaching work. Volunteering has always been a big part of my life, but it wasn’t until I was 18 that it became a full-time thing for me. I spend majority of my time volunteering. It’s the most fulfilling work I’ve ever been apart of. I’ve always had the goal of taken my volunteering outside of Chicago. Outside of the U.S. actually. Now it’s actually happening and I literally could scream/cry/dance/laugh/cheer/sing/shout and anything else you can think of. This is happening guys. I’m moving to Nicaragua. FOR 3 MONTHS! It might not seem like a long time to some of you but this is a major step in my life. It’s the first time I’ll be away from my parents/friends/family for this long (obviously) and I’m going by myself. Big move. I’m excited though! This trip is really gonna help me to grow as a person and I’m sure I’ll find out a lot about myself. I’ll be rooming with another volunteer when I get there so it should be fun to make a new friend and be with someone working toward the same goal.

I’m still a little bit in shock that this is all actually happening. At the beginning of this year while setting some personal goals for myself, I created a year plan. It was to save up most of my pennies and make my way to a different part of the earth by the beginning of next year. To be completely honest…..I had forgotten all about it. My goals changed a little bit due to me wanting to stick with my friends and accomplish things with them (that’s a post for another day). I eventually came to my senses, with the help of my mom, and I got back on track with pursuing MY goals. Everything literally started falling into place. I got a job helping my uncle, which worked perfectly with my volunteer schedule. With the help of a close family friend I was able to get in contact with someone in Nicaragua who helped with everything I would need for my trip. From recommending an airline to finding me some place to stay. Now everything is set and I’m scheduled to leave in the middle of January. JANUARY. Only 2 months away. I can’t believe it’s so close!

Taking this step reminds me of why I started this blog in the first place. To document my life, because honestly you never know what will happen. A year or two ago I never thought I’d be making plans to go volunteer in Nicaragua for 3 months. It’s crazy. Life is so unpredictable but sometimes that’s what makes it so much fun. Now that you guys know you can look forward to a lot more posts about the preparation of my trip! I also have some other exciting projects I’m working on that I’ll announce soon. Oh and sorry for my unexpected break last week. Emotions were high and motivation to write it all down was low lol. Thanks for reading! Have a good week! Talk to ya Friday!
