05 Feb Salted Caramel Maple Pecan Bars
Pecan pie is one of my dad’s favorite dessert. Sidenote: Have you noticed I make reference to my dad a lot on here? He’s the sweet eater of the house. No dessert can be made without him having a taste. Anyway anything with pecans are his thing. To the point where if I have any of them left over they’re sure to be gone within a few hours *side eye emoji*. My pecan pie is definitely one of his faves (recipe coming soon!) so I figured I’d scale the pie down and bit and add a few more flavors to create whole new dessert. Salted Caramel Maple Pecan Bars. And yes, they’re as good as they sound.
I love the sweet and salty combo. These Salted Caramel Maple Pecan Bars definitely have that. You have the sweetness of the maple and brown sugar mixed with the salty sweetness of the salted caramel. Yum yum! If you love pecan pie you’ll definitely love these! And if you don’t like the salty sweet combo just don’t add any salt to your caramel 🙂 Enjoy!
Salted Caramel Maple Pecan Bars
A delicious combination of salty and sweet these Salted Caramel Maple Pecan Bars are filled with layers of flavor and yummy pecans!
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt optional
- 1 cup pecans halves
- about 1/4 cup salted caramel sauce for drizzling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 8x8 baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray
In the bowl of a stand mixer combine flour, brown sugar, and butter cut up in cubes. Mix until mixture has small sandy lumps
Smooth mixture out into pan until evenly distributed. Pat into a smooth, even crust. Bake for 17 minutes or until crust is just set.
In a large whisk together egg, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt. Stir in pecans
After crust is done baking, pour filling over crust, even distributing the pecans either with your fingers or a spatula
Bake for about 16 to 19 minutes or until center is set. Let cool for at least 1 hour before cutting and drizzling with salted caramel
If you choose to use salted and roasted pecan halves you might want to omit the pinch of salt. But you're really into the salty sweet flavor don't omit
